Meet Citrine, a wonderfully theatrical member of Target’s 2018 Hyde & Eek! Featherly Friends Masquerade collection. Dressed in textured black lace with sheer ribbon accents, sparkling orange embellishments and her unmistakable red-orange pumpkin-inspired masquerade mask, Citrine is one of those Halloween pieces that has developed a following well beyond her original Target shelf.
Her 2018 masquerade group appears to have included Citrine, Amethyst, Sapphire and Peridot, which is worth mentioning because it gives collectors a specific series to search and collect.
Covered in textured black fabric and lace, this whimsical bird wears a dramatic pumpkin-inspired mask with green eyes, orange detailing and leafy green plumage rising above her head. A tiny black bow and sparkling orange jewel decorate the front, while sheer black ribbon, jeweled accents and a long fabric tail add another layer of wonderfully over-the-top Halloween charm.

Long black legs and oversized bird feet give her just the right combination of elegant, strange and slightly ridiculous — exactly the sort of character one might expect to find wandering the halls of Candy Corn Manor after dark.
She is especially wonderful worked into a Halloween vignette rather than displayed as a conventional holiday figurine. Among pumpkins, old books, black cats, candles and autumn flowers, she becomes part of a little story.
