🍁 History & Interesting Notes (Paragraph)

Ridgway of Staffordshire, established in 1792, became one of England’s most respected producers of transferware—an innovative printing process that made detailed illustrations possible on ceramics. In 1975, the Heritage Series revived William Henry Bartlett’s iconic engraved scenes of 19th-century Canada, celebrating early settlements, military forts, and waterways. These pieces were produced in limited runs and are prized today for their artistic historical value and their mix of printed transfer and hand-applied color washes. The “Citadel of Kingston” scene captures a moment of mid-1800s life and remains one of the most collected images from the series.
