This vintage National Union NU-78 vacuum tube dates to approximately the mid-1930s and features a clear glass envelope, six-pin base, metal top cap and highly visible internal mesh electrode structure.

The Type 78 was a remote-cutoff pentode commonly used in 1930s radio receivers for RF and IF amplification. Its exposed internal construction makes this a fascinating collectible not only for radio enthusiasts, but also for lovers of vintage science, industrial design and unusual display objects.
At approximately 4” high × 1” wide, it has a sculptural, laboratory-like look that works beautifully in a curiosity cabinet, vintage electronics display, scientific collection, industrial vignette or mad-scientist-inspired Halloween shelf.

Good authentic vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with its age.
Glass is intact with light surface wear and minor spotting. Black base retains visible National Union NU-78 markings. Metal pins and top cap show normal age-related oxidation and patina.
Electrical function has not been tested. Sold as a vintage collectible and display object rather than as a guaranteed working electronic component.
